Husband and wife Ted and Mary NIxon will co-chair Metro United Way Inc.’s 2014 annual community campaign.
Ted Nixon is the CEO of D.D. Williamson & Co. Inc., which manufactures and markets food and beverage colouring products. The privately held company is based in Louisville and has nine plants in various parts of the world.
Mary Nixon is vice president, tax and internal audit, for Yum! Brands Inc. (NYSE: YUM).
“Ted and Mary bring four decades of commitment, experience and enthusiasm with them as tireless supporters of Metro United Way,” Joe Tolan, president and CEO of Metro United Way, said in a news release.
“Their combined energy and passion will be reflected by the community’s response, as I am confident they will inspire and motivate everyone to support our efforts to create a positive future for all.”
The annual campaign encourages area employers and community members to support Metro United Way’s focus on education, financial stability and health, the release said.
“Education is the path forward,” Ted Nixon said in the release. “I was fortunate to be raised by a family that shared that strong belief. Education is an equalizer for all.”
The 2013 Metro United Way annual campaign raised $28.1 million through more than 64,560 individuals and 1,040 workplace campaigns.
